i actually went to RUN!!
you'll never believe what i just did! i went to RUN! yup! me RUN! *grin* ran all the way to the coffee shop outside school (stopped for a drink) and back. my friend says it's only about 2.4km but it feels like 3km! well, coming back felt faster!
and THEN WE HAD LAKSA!! hahahahah! his neighbours were cooking laksa and black pepper chicken! *licks lips* YUMMMYYY!!!!! boy can they cook!
so much for burning calories eh? think i consumed more than i burned! *grin* well, the effort was there. ;)
i'm going to make it a point to run at least twice a week. minus the sinful suppers of course!

why does society give the side look to single mothers? what's it with society and single mothers? why is it that single mothers are looked upon with such scorn and disdain? why are they seen as a disgrace to the society? why is it "right" that a child must have a father? i've seen some families whose fathers play no part in bringing up the children at all. what good is a father then? in fact, the father becomes a liability. and the mother is effectively a single parent!
(realise how different it is with a single father? like how some women get attracted to single dads but guys tend to shy away from single mothers? and society pities the single fathers but not the single unwed mums?)
to some women, they rather bring up the child alone. and they have no wish to get married. so they either go to the sperm bank or find a partner to impregnate (if there is such a word..) them. what's wrong with that? maybe having a partner is better. least the kid will know who the father is.
i know.. a child is supposed to be product of love and blah blah blah. but in this world where true love is almost a rarity, where is the love? you tell me! the chances of winning the lottery is probably higher than finding your true love.
what's in a marriage anyway? if you find a good guy, good for you. but how rare is that? guys before and after marriage are 2 different persons! hey, if a good guy can turn bad after marriage, maybe a bad guy will turn good after marriage! haha but i digress. back to where i was - how would you know that you'd want to spend the rest of your life with that guy? let's say you eventually find someone you want to get married too. by then it'll probably be too late to have kids! so why not have a kid first? and get married later?
it's their choice to be single mothers so leave them alone. swallow that criticism you were going to spit at them. they are probably happier than you are. and they sure don't need your pity or your point of view, for that matter.

i'm on the verge of turning unconsciously psycho. i'm subconsciously imagining things and thinking too much. i think there's 2 of me. i have a split personality. like the sane me and the insane me. and they are fighting it out. the insane me is psycho already. the sane me is not (yet). i shouldn't be like that, yet i don't know why i am!
and i had the weirdest dream last night. last night's sleep was so restless!
i think i'm just going back to sleep...
oh shuckadoo. AI lab report and quiz this week... *groan*

Can lead an unsuspecting heart
A fleeting glance
Suddenly you know why my heart sings
You love awhile
You try to hide the tears inside
But in the hush of night,
Exactly like a bitter sweet refrain
Comes that certain smile,
To haunt your heart again

my first (and hopefully last) hangover..
for the first time in my life, i got dead drunk. yup. me drunk. never happened before! and for the second time, i threw up. all i have is one word: UGH! i feel so utterly sick. like the whole world is spinning around me. i want to puke but i can't.. can just feel the leftover alcohol in me... *groans* didn't know how i got so drunk. this is the first time. and will definitely be the last! gosh i was so unconscious i didn't know what was happening around me. though the usual crowd wasn't there, thank God my friend and her friends happened to be there. gee, on hindsight, it would have been so dangerous coz it was just us 2 gals. sorry gal, for scaring you! and thank you too for carrying me all the way up.
wondering if i should venture eating some food. but the thought of putting food into my stomach makes it do a somersault.
supposed to meet him for dinner later. seriously, i feel so sick right now, i don't want to go anywhere or do anything. all i want to do is lie in bed and sleep. i so want to cancel on him. we shouldn't even meet. he should just leave. there's nothing left to say anyway...

are guys really the necessary evil? well, i suppose we girls could live without guys but then maybe life wouldn't be half as interesting. i'm not saying we need guys to make our lives interesting. our lives are as good as it can get right now but maybe guys are meant to add some spice and irritation to our lives? hmmm... maybe sometimes you just need that someone to irk you, to make you angry, to put that little special smile on your face, to irritate you, to disturb you and to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I'm in love
I've got a song that I sing
I can make the rain go
Any time I move my finger
Lucky me, can't you see - I'm in love
Life's a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let you go
heh and if you're wondering, no, i'm not in love.. i just like this song at the moment.

i'm in a good mood??..
hmm why is everyone asking if i'm in good mood today? my sunshinyness (there is no such word.. i made it up! haha)is peeping through? but i seem like my normal self to me! within the last hour or so, two people have asked why i seem so chirpy and happy. is something the matter with them? or me? silly ash said i'm not complaining to him today, which is something different. bleh! i'm not always complaining! bleh bleh bleh!

wish i was at the piano now... just feel like tinkling the ivories right now...
sometimes i regret not finishing it. afterall i'm already at grade 8.. all i have to do is go take the exam. but thinking of all the hours i have to put in to practice... nah i don't think so! somehow i can seem to find time for everything else but sit down and practice my pieces. guess it was all a matter of prioritizing my time. and committing my time. committing my time is something i find it really difficult to do. hmmm... could it be that i am, subconsciously, a committment phobic?

mmm been trying to study for the last couple of hours but i never got past the first page. *sheepish grin* i did make the effort to study. i really wanted to. came straight back to hall after lunch and took out my electronics notes. but suddenly everything else seemed more appealing.. and before i knew it, it's already past 5pm. oops. first i said i'll start at 2pm. two o'clock came and went. then it was 3. and then 4. now its 5. time flies. what can i say? not my fault right. *lazy yawn* almost time for dinner... hmm i'll start after dinner? hehehe...

horror of all horrors
i've got a roomie! *gasps* there goes my single deluxe room. *pouts*
was happily on my way up to the room, already thinking of putting sheets onto the other empty bed, when suddenly i stopped in my tracks. a pair of slippers outside my room?! *puzzled* then i thought it was probably one of my friends playing a prank on me or something. then i turned the knob. the door was unlocked! *gasps* i peeked in and i saw someone sitting at the other desk!
*sigh* that's it... no more whole room to myself. well, i'm sure she's a nice girl and i'm glad she's neither an indian or a china national. but still... i'm used to being alone... and i really need to be alone. least for this week! argh.
hmmm mr nice guy has a gf...

they say things happen for a reason...
but you never do find out the reason do you? well, maybe not now, but you'll probably see the light at the end of the tunnel soon enough! heh
was supposed to join some friends for a movie tonight but for some reason or other, i changed my mind. i just didn't want to go down to town. in fact, i was also supposed to go down to town for a mani & pedi but i cancelled that appointment too coz it was raining. well guess what. my friend called just now and said it was a good thing i didn't go for the movie coz guess who they saw? yup. r (aka scumbag) with the girlfriend. it would have been awkard! glad i was spared the weird situation. not that i would have been bothered. knowing me, i would have probably just rolled my eyes at him and give a disgusted face. hah. oh an apparently, they said r's gf wasn't pretty. *skeptical* she did look good in those friendster pics though (but then again, those were all side shots..)
oh well. see, things happen for a reason. and my not going to town was this. it's a friday night, i would normally have been in town and was making plans to go there. but somehow, either i cancelled them or my friends were not free. all things work for a reason. believe me. *grin*

ice cream overdose!
don't think i'll be touching ice cream for awhile. had so much today! i feel full just thinking about it. swenson's was running a $1.39 for 5 scoops promotion today.. skipped lab to go! haha the temptation was too great. was craving for chocolate chip ice cream when my friend called me and told me about the promotion. craving made me drop everything and go!
first it was an overdose of alcohol the night before and now it's ice cream! i'm beginning to think i don't know how to take things in moderation!

ikea's having MEGA SALE!!! *wide grin* yours truly almost went crazy shopping there. bought as much as i could carry. (well not exactly. i didn't carry. only pushed the stuff to the taxi and my friend helped me carry it up to hall when i got back. heh) i couldn't resist everything. it's almost half price for most of the stuff (like it isn't already cheap!)
my room qualifies as an ikea ad! hahaha! anything you pick out is probably from ikea... this is from ikea, so is that and that and oh this too!
alrighty, time to eat. my first meal of the day. don't know if its lunch or dinner. :S
~ Her Royal Highness ~ 6:54 PM 0 comments
moved into hall finally! phew. it was such a hassle packing and unpacking all my stuff! moving out of hall was one thing. moving in is another thing! i've got like a kazillion and one stuff to bring and it's not even all yet! heh will have to bring in the rest over the weekend. the stuff i brought in is already alot for a first rounnd. hahaha
kong and chye were the absolute sweetest! they helped me to clean up my room yesterday! vacuumed and mopped and dusted. i practically didn't have to lift a finger *grin* aren't they the most awesome??? (of course, for that, i owe them a meal.. haha!)
i love my room. it's pretty breezy. (well if it's on top of the hill it has to be right?) i've got quite a view (and a workout too whenever i climb those flights of stairs!). with all the workout i'm going to get from the stairs, i think i can safely afford suppers. *grin* oh plus i don't have a roomie. and there's no one allocated to the room either. so i got the whole room to myself! splendid! it's even better than single coz it's much bigger! hope no one moves in. *fingers crossed*
ooooh i want to make a trip down to ikea! i'm sure there are things there waiting to be bought! hehe
uh oh... there's a meeting with my FYP supervisor later and i haven't read anything yet. it's almost where i left off last week, safe for a few more line. :S

went to a friend's father's funeral today. well she's not a close friend. knew her since my sunday school days but we never really spoke after secondary school. our parents knew each other so my parents were going and mummy said i should go too. tried to wiggle my way out of going but i thought i should just go. it's only right, right? there's this thing i hate about funerals. makes you all queasy. and i dread open casket. more so when you're supposed to go up to it and pay your last respects. do i really have to? everytime i have to approach one, my knees threaten to buckle under me.
her dad committed suicide. hanged himself at home. what could be worse than that? my heart goes out to the person who found the body. it really shouldn't be this way. *wince* he got out of a coma a few months ago but slipped into depression. suddenly decided to take his life. why? God saved him once, why did he have to kill himself? waking up from a coma is a miracle itself. how often does anyone wake up from a coma and fully normal? waking up from a coma is rare. waking up and being able to go back to leading a normal life is even more rare (or should the word be rarer?). sometimes those who ever wake up are disabled, either mentally or physically. her dad was even able to go back to work!
the atmosphere of the funeral of someone who committed suicide is different. its all hush hush. no one speaks of how he died. it's unlike the ones whereby the death was of a natural cause and people would speak of the person's last moments.
committing sucide has got to be the most selfish thing to do. he ended his misery but what about his family? my heart shattered just looking at the family he left behind. my poor friend was wailing, crying, screaming and sobbing uncontrollably. no one ever deserves to be like that! *sigh* and the poor mother. i'm sure she's heartbroken yet she has to remain strong for her daughters. please say a little prayer for that family. pray for peace, pray for strength to carry on, pray for God's presence and pray that they will remember that God is there with them always, especially through this difficult period.

the race between the past, present and future
has your past ever caught up faster than you can run away from it? has it overtaken you, only to become your present again? you look behind your shoulder, see no shadows of your past and just when you thought you were safe and far away from it, it peeks at you from round the corner and jumps out at you. BOO! hello past! chances are you didn't see the shadows of the past behind you coz it was already way ahead of you.
my past always seem to worm its way into my present (and probably the future too). it's a blurred line between my past, present and future. the past is the present. the present is the past. they are one and the same. and sometimes, the present is some variation of the past. the mutated version. like paralogous genes. genes that have a common ancestral gene but diverged from the parent copy by mutation. (haha i couldn't resist drawing a parallel to that gene thing coz i was just reading it!)
so you see, you don't have to delibrately or unconsciously turn back to the past. even if you are making a conscious effort to look ahead and walk away, the past would still slowly, but surely, creep up on you. there seems to be no running away from it.

china? who's china? what's china?
who doesn't know china is a land of piracy and cheap labour? it's splashed all over the news that china industries are known for copying foreign brands and then selling the products for a much lower price. why should it be surprising that the price difference is so great? of course the price would be lower since the quality of it was compromised. besides, they didn't have to spend the money to do market and technology research. all they had to do was copy. how much money does it take to copy something? even photocopying a piece of document is cheaper than printing the actual one. *rolls eyes* if china was so capable, then why does she have to resort to such lowdown means?
i quote and unquote Forbes:
"BYD has 1500 engineers dedicated to disassembling competitors' cars..."
there you go. 1500 engineers. and this is only 1 company. how utterly disgusting.
ever wondered why labour in china is cheap too? well its like currency. too much money in circulation, you get inflation and then the value of the currency drops. you get the drift... can it be any more obvious? hah.
again from Forbes:
"China hands out 220000 basic engineering degrees a year. The U.S. hands out only 60000..."
why then, aren't the american students doing engineering?
"Maybe the American students are acting rationally to prefer law and medicine. The world is going to be flooded with Chinese and Indian engineering talent. Why compete with those low wages?"
yeah with the rising piracy and copying of foreign brands in China, we would definitely be needing more lawyers as the foreign brands are taking the china pirates to court.

i should just channel all my restlessness into my studies. i'm broke beyond broke so there's no way i can go shopping now. i've outshopped myself in the last few weeks. it's disgusting. my friend's right. i'm not even high maintanence. i'm unaffordable.
*cough* oh no.. i can feel my throat itching again. i was ok for awhile but i feel another sore throat coming up again! *wails* i just got back my voice!! don't wanna lose it again!! *sobz*
i have yet to drink till i'm really high or drunk. i want to pass out now. like knock out. then these thoughts wouldn't run through my head. it's haunting me. even in my dreams. why can't i get drunk? how come i can hold my alcohol so well? but then again, when a gal is drunk, it's very unsightly. so i'm glad i can hold my alcohol well. least i know i will be safe and it's going to take alot to even get me high. *grin*
would i be crazy to start studying now? shouldn't be right? after all, i'm a student. studying is what i'm supposed to be doing. not messing around. but why does studying feels weird, while messing around is almost second nature to me? *naughty grin* yeah i'm naughty. way too naughty at times.. i know. heh but that's what makes life fun! to walk within the lines would make my life so boring! *grin*

finally coming to my senses~
*sigh* i think i ought to start being serious with my studies. looking back, it just dawned on me that i have never given it my best shot. all the years that i've been in school. the past 15 years. i mean, my Os and As were purely miracles. thank God i had enough brains to get through with little work. but i know it could have been better if i had just bothered to put in that little bit more of effort. look at me! all play and no work at all.
in primary sch, i was whispering away while the teacher was teaching. and during exams, after i finished those sums, i would spend the rest of the time colouring all those little flowers on the exam paper. *shakes head* haha who would do that right, you think! all the little kids were busy stressing themselves out over the maths sums and there i was, giving colour to the flowers, cars and whatnots. refused to study for PSLE. told mummy no need to study. haha poor mummy had a difficult time just making me sit and read through my books at least once.
then secondary school. i was always writing little notes during class. never bothered to study too. only panicked just before Os. and i mean, really just. like 1 or 2 months before only the exams only. i looked at my prelims (think i had like 30 over points hahah) and i just panicked. asked mummy what am i supposed to do! that's when i started studying. thank God mummy was there. i really wouldn't have known what to do. she managed my time for me, drew up study timetables for me, listed down all i had to do.. all those past year papers and all. all i had to do was just follow and study. don't i have the most awesome mother? it's only right to say that my O levels is her doing. i would have never been able to shave off more than 20 points from my prelims without her. and God too, of course! for giving mummy the patience to deal with me. and the countless miracles.
but i never learnt my lesson. *sheepish grin* i did it again in JC. played my way through till the last minute and panicked again. yes, again. i did it again. you would think that anyone would have learnt their lesson right? nope. not me. i'm too stubborn for my own good. in more ways than one. so God and mummy comes to the rescue yet again. hence i managed to come out with pretty decent grades. sometimes, i think i'm almost testing God.
i never seem to learn my lesson. why can't i study? why can't i sit still? without sounding boastful, i think i'm pretty intelligent. i skip lessons. i don't do my work. i never study. and i can study for just a couple of months (from scratch. really. from zilch) just before the exams and still do well, given the amount of time i spent studying! so if i start earlier, i'd do even better right?
my grades in uni have been the worst ever. i've never seen such grades before. i've never seen an A ever since i left JC and Bs are few though sure. it was depressing at first but i'm getting immuned to it. which is a bad thing. i don't think it's got anything to do with the subjects. it's just me. i hardly study. while others are attending lectures and tutorials, i was skipping off to town for shopping, manicures & pedicures, coffee and silly whatnots. i thought i could get off with minimal study again but guess not. the grades i got are more than i deserve for the number of hours i put in though but not enough to get the grades i want. i'm horrible and greedy, ain't i? i want minimal effort, maximum results. well, who doesn't? i thought hey, it worked for me in secondary school and jc, it would work again now. i was wrong. but did i learn my lesson? nope. did not.
it's probably unfair to say this, but ever since mummy went back to work, my grades have been dropping. no one's there to push me to study. i know... i'm so old already. i ought to motivate myself to study and not be so reliant on mummy but... *shrugz*
and now it's supposedly my final year. if i don't study now, i'll never get the chance to do it again. this is the time that i should prove to myself right? i know, deep within myself, i can do it. it's just that i don't want to. it's such a waste, isn't it?

i need a hall. i really do. can't go on missing lessons like that! moreoever, tutorials and labs start this week.. so will my FYP! it's really not economical for me to go to school sometimes! i spend like almost an hour travelling to school just for an hour's lecture then i take another hour to get home. ratio of travelling time to time spent in school is 2:1!!!
why is it so difficult to get a hall!! GGGRRR!!! just kick those china students and those over zealous people with too many ECA points out and i'll have a room. these people have nothing better to do, i swear! how can anyone (normal) accumulate over 80 eca points! do they have no life outside school???!!!! geez!! what do they do? spend 24/7 in school buried under all those activities? they really are spoiling the market for ECA points! tsk. somebody should put a cap on the number of eca points a student can have and anything above that will be "donated" to us students without any points. i mean, if these people go round taking all the points, what points will be left for us, RIGHT?!! tsktsk.
did i just put this issue in a different perspective for you? are you able to see the previously blurred light at the end of the tunnel now? good. now you see my point of view. perfect. i just have to get the people up there to see my point of view too. then i will get my hall.

right. taxi drivers. like everything else, there are the good ones, AND the horrid bad ones. i hate trying to get a cab on friday nights especially. that's because all of these stupid pesky irritating drivers refuse to stop. i really mean refuse to stop. they have NO passengers in their taxis (unless they have some passengers unseen to the human eye...) yet they will drive right past you as if you were invisible. why? all because they want to wait for call in customers and earn the extra $3.20. it's so irritating when you're in a hurrry and you see all these cabs whisking past you. *scowls* it's not that i don't want to call for a cab. it's no use either coz the lines are usually jammed up. either that or you'd have to wait for eternity for them to give you a cab. so either way, you'd still be stranded where you are, with frustration growing by the second!
on more than 1 occasion, i managed to hop on into the cab coz the traffic light was red and the cab was in front of me. and the taxi driver would blatently say he didn't want to pick me coz he was waiting for call ins. such audicity! can you belive it? since when were they allowed to choose customers? i used to let it pass but one particular taxi driver really irked me. THIS taxi driver insisted that it was only right to give priority to call in customers and ignore those on the streets. he had the cheek to tell me that he was contemplating accepting a call from raffles city to woodlands. (i was at fullerton and going home) and the whole journey he kept griping about how much money he would have made if he took that call. *glares* and this was a merc cab! you would think they would have more manners. i was soooooooo angry!! he was so mecenery! know what he said when i got in?
driver: you're lucky the call was to go to woodlands. if it was tampines, i would not have picked you up. coz then i would go to the airport. it's coz it was woodlands that's why i was thinking about it.
me: *rolls eyes* whatever. taxi drivers are not allowed to choose customers.
driver: no. call in customers should get priority because they are loyal...
me: *rolls eyes again* (making a mental note of the taxi license plate and looking for the TIBS customer service hotline to call)
driver: did you call for a cab? you should have.
(to which i gave my usual response as to how its impossible to get a cab even then. and i still maintained my stand that choosing customers is bad customer service. guess what the driver said..)
driver: too bad. it's like when you buy a first class ticket. of course the service would be better. but then sometimes, even when you want to buy a first class ticket, you can't get it. blah blah blah blah. (and he went on and on about how much money he would have made if he took that call as opposed to what he would earn by picking me up blah blah blah)
by this point, i was so furious with him for trying to insist that they, taxi drivers have every right to choose customers and that it IS good customer service for giving priority to call in customers. so street pick ups are not customers too??? *glares* and oh please. give me a break. you're just a taxi driver. stop comparing yourself to an airline!! calling for a taxi is hardly even comparable to booking a first class ticket!!
i used to be pretty pleased with the TIBS drivers coz they have always been pleasant (as compared to city cabs and comfort. comfort's are possibly one of the worst!) but this one has just changed my mind about TIBS. i definitely will call TIBS tomorrow! is this how they educate their drivers?? and aren't merc cab drivers supposed to be more polite?! i have a good mind to call in and complain about him. i didn't want to do it initially, coz i thought i might just break his rice bowl. but now, the more i think about it, the angrier i am! pffft!
